Racine's Blue Wave Beach:
Producer's Diary

Reflections from Frederica Freyberg

We shot this story in the full heat of the summer. Of course because we were on the job we were dressed totally inappropriately for summertime at the beach. I was in a suit. The photographer and sound people wore pants as well. I kicked off my shoes to make my way through the sand more efficiently, but the sand was so hot I had to move pretty fast!

Even though we couldn't enjoy it the way it was meant to be enjoyed, I was very impressed by the beach and kept thinking I would want to bring my family there to swim and play.

It's very big and clean and has a huge playground right next to it. When we were in Racine we were referred to a downtown restaurant that's out of the 1950's. They serve malts and burgers and fries. You can get all three for under four dollars! That stop made the crew happy.
