Lighthouse Rehab:
Introduction

Report Description:
Lake Superior is home to the greatest concentration of lighthouses in America. Those six lighthouses can be found in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, and one of the lighthouses is being renovated for the first time in 100 years. The Raspberry Island Lighthouse is a rare, wood-frame lighthouse and has been weathered and battered by Lake Superior's sun and storms. Producer JoAnne Garrett describes how this cultural icon spells out a story about the lighthouse keepers who bravely "kept the light burning" for Superior's shipping industry - and what that history means to us now.
