Quagga Mussels:
Producer's Diary

Reflections from Producer Liz Koerner

The summer of 2006 marked the second summer the television crew and I set sail aboard The Great Lakes WATER Institute's primary research vessel is the NEESKAY under the steady hand of Captain Greg Stamatelakys.

According to the web site of the Great Lakes Association of Science Ships, "Great Lakes science vessels are an important part of U.S. and Canadian research and monitoring efforts designed to protect the quality of the Great Lakes ecosystem."

I can readily attest to the value of this work having seen how much data scientists collect on each trip. And, if the seas are calm, the Captain serves biscuits-- still warm from the on-board oven.

In Wisconsin airs on Thursday nights at 7:00 pm on most Wisconsin public television stations, and on Sunday mornings at 11:30 am on WMVS in Milwaukee.
