Safe Catch:
Introduction

Report Description:
The Sheboygan River is a Superfund site, with the EPA and DNR monitoring the dredging of PCB contaminated sediments from the water. The Sheboygan is so polluted with contaminants from industry that thirty years ago the DNR imposed an advisory against eating any of its resident fish. That advisory persists today. However, when reporter Frederica Freyberg traveled to the Sheboygan River, she visited with a local family that was fishing and that was unaware of the advisories despite state efforts to alert people. The DNR hopes that all fish advisories for the Sheboygan can be lifted within ten years after the clean up is complete.
